Welcome to Coral Springs
Being Calgary’s only North-East Lake community, Coral Springs gives residents the feeling of cabin living while still being within the city. The community is centered around the 16- acre manmade lake with a 3-acre attached park, which is popular for swimming, fishing and non-motorized boating in the summer, and ice skating around a warm bonfire in the winter.
During the winter months the Coral Springs Residents Association (CSRA) provides a variety of skating surfaces, including 2 illuminated hockey rinks, an ice-skating rink with fire pit, and a skating path around the lake. Skating areas are re-surfaced with their very own Zamboni keeping the ice smooth and safe. In the summer the association provides its members with access to equipment such as rowboats, kayaks, pedal boats, tennis rackets, volleyballs, and basketballs to use within the lake & park facility. The lake is stocked annually with 2500 rainbow trout which can be caught by residents and their guests while fishing from docks or rowboats. To ensure the safety of all residents and their guest the association requires that everyone who is out on the water in a boat must be wearing a life jacket that is provided at no cost to residents or guests. On both sides of the lake there is a sandy shore where families can enjoy a picnic or simply watch their children play in the sand and shallow water.
The Coral Springs Community Association (CSCA) is a non-profit organization (not to be confused with the Coral Springs Residents Association (SCRA) which oversees the maintenance of the lake) is comprised of volunteers, who dedicate a lot of their time and effort to keep Coral Springs the “Jewel of the Northeast”. The yearly $20 CSCA membership helps support CSCA events like the annual Fall Festival, Paint the Fence Project and the community newsletter. The community association works with the Calgary Police Service to help keep the community as safe as possible, and works with Municipal and Provincial governments to ensure projects have a positive impact on the community.
In 1983 Coral Springs was annexed by Calgary and is now home to plenty of green spaces and walking pathways that families can enjoy throughout the seasons. The variety of housing costs in Coral Springs has allowed the community to remain economically diverse as it contains every level of home between starter condos and estate homes. There is one catholic elementary (CSSD) school located within the community, as well as plenty of other schools located in close proximity within surrounding communities. Suri Plaza is located within the community and is home to a variety of shops and services that residents can make use of.
